Founded by Adam Steinmetz — 26 years in progressively senior leadership roles at Fidelity Investments.
Adam saved Fidelity over $1B by driving digital adoption through cross-functional issue diagnosis and leadership of technology solutions. He led the insight-driven product response that saved a critical Fortune 125 client that Fidelity had a 90% chance of losing. He built a 230-person product group serving 3.5 million employees at the nation's largest employers.
These weren't consulting engagements. Adam was in the room, leading the team, and was accountable for the outcome. That's what Candid brings to every engagement — not just an outside perspective, but the experience of someone who has delivered for clients.
Wharton undergrad. Duke MBA. Outside of Candid, Adam writes about baseball for publications including On SI (Sports Illustrated) and publishes a weekly AI-assisted digital publication — giving him hands-on experience with the AI tools his clients are navigating.

The Problem
Senior leaders are making critical decisions without the full picture.
The gap between what employees know and what reaches leadership is often where companies fail. What shows up in status reports is only the surface. The real story is underneath.

AI Readiness
Most Organizations Are Deploying AI. Few Are Seeing Significant Value.
McKinsey finds that 88% of organizations are deploying AI, yet fewer than 20% see significant bottom-line impact. Organizations are investing heavily in AI technology — but most are unprepared for the day-to-day realities of making it work. Read the research →
Candid helps you surface and solve challenges around the Four P's of AI Readiness — Prioritization, People, Process, and Policy. Without a solid foundation on the Four P's, your AI implementation is like driving a car with four bad tires even faster down the highway.
Proprietary Framework & Assessment
Candid's Four P's of AI Readiness
In the same way the Four P's of Marketing gave organizations a rigorous framework for go-to-market strategy, Candid's Four P's of AI Readiness gives organizations a rigorous framework for AI readiness — scored across ten factors on a ten-point scale, giving you a total readiness score out of 100.

Process
Broken, manual, or undocumented workflows don't disappear with AI — they get magnified.
Processes ready for AI automation
Data cleanliness and pipelines
Integration with existing systems and workflows
How Candid helps: We surface what employees already know — that the data isn't clean, the processes aren't ready — before AI deployment amplifies the flaws.

People
Even well-prioritized, operationally ready initiatives stall when the human side isn't addressed.
AI knowledge and skills distribution
AI-ready org design and job roles
How Candid helps: We surface what people are actually thinking — the fears, the resistance, the gaps — so you can address them before they limit your momentum.

Policy
Policy is what makes your AI investments sustainable, scalable, and safe over time.
Controls and standards to prevent costly errors
Governance for effective AI decisions
How Candid helps: We identify where governance gaps and inconsistent standards are creating hidden risk — and help you build the structure to sustain what you've built.
The Candid Advantage
AI consultants tell you what tools to buy and how to implement them. Candid tells you what's actually limiting the value you're getting from AI — and gives you the keys to unlock the power of AI.
The Candid Difference
We don't just tell you what's wrong. We help you fix it.
Traditional consulting means months of discovery, thick reports, and a team of analysts who have never run anything. Candid is different — fast diagnosis, senior judgment, and a clear path forward.

How It Works
How Candid Gets Key Initiatives Moving Quickly
A focused, time-bound 60-day engagement designed to get you answers fast — and get your initiative moving. For AI engagements, includes Candid's proprietary AI Readiness Assessment. Senior guidance is available beyond Day 60 for as long as it's useful.
1
Day 1–2
Kickoff & Scoping
You communicate the engagement internally and provide a roster for candid conversations, along with a current-state overview. We align on scope and the right questions to ask.
2
Day 3–14
Candid Conversations & Initial Insights
Confidential 1:1 interviews with 15–20 employees across functions and levels. As an external party with no vested interest, Candid gets the truth your organization isn't telling you. Initial Insights Brief delivered on Day 14.
3
Day 15–28
Root Causes & Recommendations
A Comprehensive Report with root causes and recommended solutions — delivered by Day 28. For AI initiatives, this includes Candid's AI Readiness Assessment — a scored diagnostic across ten factors giving you a total readiness score out of 100.
4
Day 29–60
Solution Acceleration
We plan and facilitate a Solution Acceleration Workshop for key leaders — turning insights into decisions and decisions into momentum. You leave with a clear path forward, not just a better understanding of the problem.
5
Day 61–180
Staying CandidOptional
Some firms diagnose and leave. Candid can stay with you through execution — as senior guidance, not staff. We periodically re-engage the people closest to the work to catch the new gaps that open up once execution is underway, advise as fresh problems surface, and remain the truth-teller in the room when the picture leadership is being given drifts from reality.
We don't build the agents, write the code, or run the training. When you're ready to execute, we'll connect you with vetted implementation and training partners — and make sure that when they get to work, they're solving the right problems.
Where We Help
Where Candid Has the Greatest Impact
Candid works best when a high-stakes initiative is stalling and leadership can sense it — even if they can't pinpoint why.
AI Readiness
A large electronics company has committed to AI. The engineers know the data infrastructure isn't ready, leaders have competing agendas, and employees fear for their jobs.
Candid surfaces what is really happening — the process issues, the fears, the competing agendas — so leadership can make decisions based on reality rather than unfounded optimism.
Large Technology Programs
A financial services firm's new account-opening platform is 8 months behind schedule. The PMO reports are green. The CTO knows something is wrong but can't pinpoint it.
Candid interviews the engineers, PMs, and business stakeholders — and surfaces the structural misalignments the status reports never captured.
Organizational Transformation
A large bank is midway through a major operating model redesign. Progress is stalling, and nobody will say why.
Candid identifies where change fatigue, unclear ownership, and leadership gaps are blocking progress — and what it will take to restore momentum.
Common Questions
Questions People Ask
Click any question to expand the answer.
1. Will people really open up to you?+
More than you might expect — for three reasons.
As an outside consultant, Candid can be a neutral party without worrying about protecting its own interests or how what the person is saying personally impacts them. People are often eager to open up because they want to see change.
The conversations are confidential. We share patterns and themes with leaders without attribution to particular individuals.
Adam can quickly build rapport and connections. One example from outside of Fidelity: Adam writes about baseball for publications including On SI (Sports Illustrated). One assignment gave him access to a major league clubhouse open to reporters for 45 minutes. In that window, one player opened up about his brother's death from a drug overdose. A second shared that his first thought upon being called up to the Major Leagues was not joy but "oh, sh*t, I am not ready for this" — the kind of professional vulnerability most people, especially All-Star professional athletes, seldom reveal. A friend who later read the article put it simply: "You are incredible at quickly building connections."
2. How do you ensure confidentiality?+
Candid ensures confidentiality in two important ways.
First, you provide a roster of people Candid can speak with, and Candid selects among them. That means even participation in the process isn't fully visible to leadership.
Second, nothing is ever attributed to an individual. Findings are shared with leaders as patterns and themes only. People can speak candidly, knowing their specific words will not be individually attributed.
3. How do you deliver hard findings without blowing things up?+
This is an important question to ask — and the honest answer is that it requires equal parts clarity and care.
Adam navigated complex organizational and interpersonal dynamics at Fidelity and was known for communicating clearly, honestly, and diplomatically based on that understanding of the landscape.
Another real-world example: Adam mediated a contentious neighborhood dispute through a single email — the kind of situation where people have dug in, emotions are high, and whatever you say will be read defensively by people on both sides. A neighbor described it afterward as: "a masterpiece in diplomacy while being honest at the same time."
Candid brings those skills to communicating findings and helping you gain momentum on solutions.
4. How is this different from hiring a management consulting firm?+
The large consulting firms tell you what to do. Candid tells you what's true.
This enables you to move forward quickly in the right direction. Most consulting engagements begin with a hypothesis and work to confirm it. Candid begins with the people closest to the work, surfaces what they know but haven't been able to say, and then helps you craft a plan, align people on that path forward, and gain momentum. You also get value in 60 days versus having an army of consultants in your organization for quarters, if not years.
5. How long does an engagement take?+
The core engagement runs 60 days: an initial insights brief with early findings and no-regret action steps by Day 14, a full root cause analysis and recommendations by Day 28, and a solution acceleration phase through Day 60 where Candid works directly with leadership to build alignment and get things moving. Beyond Day 60, senior guidance is available on an optional, lighter-touch basis through execution — and we can connect you with vetted implementation and training partners when you're ready to build. We are open to customizing the scope and structure based on your specific needs.
6. What size company is this right for?+
Candid works best with mid-market companies in the $25 million to $1 billion revenue range — large enough to have real organizational complexity and to see a strong return on the investment, but not so large that the work becomes a multi-year institutional undertaking. We are an especially good fit for mid-market companies that want to get more value from AI or have a complex and critical project not progressing as planned.
That said, the underlying challenge Candid solves — leaders needing the truth to make good decisions and build momentum — exists at every size.
